Hernest (Android and iOS preview)

Hey guys, I just want to show my game project, I am almost finishing it, I just think that might be something I can do, idk, I think the game is getting too simple, but it’s a kid’s game so, maybe it’s the way it needs to be. There are only four levels at the moment and I’m uncreative right now, my processor is also too slow to build the lightmaps but here it goes:

Any hints and bugs, please let me know…

edit: I just saw that I forgot to update the credits page, the musics was created by: NoSoapRadio by DeceasedSuperiorTechnician (http://www.dreade.org/nosoap)

Nobody tested? okay :frowning:

Could be fun to play on a phone. It doesn’t need to be too much more complicated. I mean, in terms of gameplay elements anyway. It could perhaps use an arrow showing you the direction back to the anthill after you get some food, though.

Hi there!
I liked the game idea, but would suggest you to show the “how to play” inside the game itself, with less text and more practice.
In a casual game, it´s hard to keep people attention using too many text.
Also, the game is intuitive, there´s no need for so much information.

Whats your target device?
Good luck on your game =D

Hey guys, thanks for the advices!

So, JumpDog, true, actually, I had this idea and I tried to implement it but I couldn’t, I’m not a code expert and I know this isn’t that hard to implement but…idk… I’ll try to do it again.

Fernando, thanks man, that was the simplest idea that I could find, like I said, I’m not a code expert, I prefer to take care of the artisistic side, but what you mean inside the game? Like, pausing the game and show a text like “do this:” ? Or maybe I could just use the boxes in the beginning of the levels to show the player what he needs to do… maybe? The target devices, at the moment it’s just WVGA android devices, I’m gonna wait for unity for to make use of dynamic fonts and compile for all devices…

And pardon my English…

Take a look how games like battleheart ios teaches the player about controlling the chars. It´s more visual and pratical than text. This way is more efficient, and will keep player attention.
“And pardon my English…” I´m also from Brazil
Abração!

Hehe, true, I noticed but, my English is really very bad, anyway, I could not find any video showing the ‘how to plays’ of this game, just the game plays, but I can imagine how this is, I will see what I can do, but, as a bad programmer that I am… idk… =p

abraços e vlw!

Right!
Nice little game.
Graphics are a bit too jagged, work on pixel perfect gui. Clicking on gui elements needs to give feedback. Hovering also(if the game is not for phone). What in game can I click, did I clicked right?
Work on textures. Make some more grass textures, but not only plain color, add some variants.
Make a minimap, or other navigational helpers(arrows?).

Hope that helps. Nice work overall! It’s hard to finish a game, and you have done it! Be proud

Any pictures or video would be appreciated. I think if you add some pictures, more people will think about downloading it.

I need to get the game 100% done before, and the game will be available on google play and appstore, until there I will put some images and maybe a video for sure. Thanks for the feedback ^^

Thanks man, so, what you mean by jagged? The gui textures? About the gui feedback I’m still trying to figure what I am gonna do because a good part of the buttons… or maybe all of them, are rounded, and I already searched for something about how to make the gui ignore transparent parts of a button texture but no luck… hehe, true, I really need to play with the ground textures, I think I’m going to use some arrows to guide the Hernest back to the anthill… but just back, or the game will get to easy… I guess… Thank you very much for the feedback!

wow very good work. I played the demo and I think its great for a mobile type game. So keep up the good work. As for the graphics/gui I think that they fit right. Since this is going to be a mobile game I think those are good graphics and fit the games style really well.

Thanks!

Just bumping here to ask if union can help me finish my game, mainly in the scripting part*… maybe?

If you need a team or someone to help you out with the game, you can look for people offering help, or create a thread to request help in the Collaborations forum.

Ok, thanks, I will check it out!
