Hi All, just starting out and looking for good learner tutorials

So I have finally taken the plunge, I am doing a Udemy Unity course as I would like to have a go at creating my own games.

I would want to start off small before building up to my dream game, a space opera action RPG in the vain of Secret Of Mana. I would want to draw influences from all the stuff I grew up watching as a kid in the 80s and 90s.

I am looking to do 2d stuff primarily. I really like artwork like, Ahroun on tumblr

Or I have a real afinity with 2d hd art like Ryman Legends.

Are there any decent tutorials user would recommend for 2 gaming? I am a total beginner and just want to get to grips with things first and maybe make some more basic games/prototypes as I have some smaller ideas.

I haven’t taken the Udemy Unity course, but I found their Blender course to be fairly thorough. So I’d start by completing the Udemy course.

After that, most of the best tutorials are just a bit of help with a specific feature, rather than a full game development tutorial. So I’d get started on your first game and search for help on specific issues you hit instead of general tutorials, as the Udemy course undoubtedly covers a good portion of the general stuff.

The Brackeys Youtube channel has a good mix of longer tutorials and small feature based tutorials, so is not a bad place to start.

You shouldn’t go anywhere else until you have exhausted the official learn section material.

A problem with the Learn section is a lot of the video tutorials are hopelessly outdated. Stuff last tested on Unity 4.1 and such. I have a hard time recommending that when Youtube is easy to find tutorials at least made with later versions of Unity 5.
