Why is the store missing “Hide Purchased Assets”
Why can’t I choose to browse in multiple asset types? Why do you keep changing the store when theres nothing wrong with it? Are you deliberately trying to sabotage your own sales? Just put the old WORKING store back up and experiment on your own time please. Also, in case it’s like a magic spell, can I say the “magic words” and OPT-OUT of the new store design? Couldn’t find a “Asset Store” topic to label my discussion with. I guess it must be a taboo subject to discuss. How long are we going to be subjected to this WIP Asset store experiment? Please fix the Assetstore.
Hi @TwinB, thank you for the feedback, I’ve recorded the points you’ve mentioned and will make sure the relevant team members are aware.
Historically, for me, The Unity Asset Store has always been a place that I personally refer to as one of the best designed online markets of it’s type. It just feels wrong to change it when it was already so well made. Why change it? If it has problems, couldn’t any bugs be fixed and the site maintained as it was? or even have an option to choose like a “basic” (the new asset store) and “advanced” (the classic asset store) ? or just not change it at all. I mean, who should Unity be trying to impress/please more? potential not-yet-existent customers/users or already existing customers/users who like things the way they are— and who are most importantly— already paying-money for expected reliable services? I just feel that Unity needs to think about priority here— Thank you
couldn’t any bugs be fixed and the site maintained as it was
The short answer is that It couldn’t due to multiple reasons.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that the new platform will keep evolving over time, guided by both user feedback and statistics. While it’s impossible to please everyone—especially with differing opinions—I want to emphasize that the Asset Store will improve and grow. Your feedback, and that of the community, is really valuable and always welcome!
The changes you have done are really big snd can affect years long businesses in the store, please consider these facts.
Imo categorizing assets with 4.74 score as 4 star ones is essentially negatively affecting a lot of of quality assets.
Assets with 4.6 or 4.7 scores and hundred of reviews are still worthy ones and 4.6 is closer to 5 than to 4, so this should be taken into account in sorting and ranking.
Notice how all our main assets are missing from a rating sorting
Old sorting, all our major assets in front
New sorting, all major assets are removed from top!
Specifically Sky Master ULTIMATE, ORION, Particle Dynamic Magic, InfiniGRASS and Environment Building Bundle.
Only the newer assets with a tiny number of reviews appear in the searches, the major assets with 100 to 200+ ratings are now not visible because are not above 4.75, even though they are above 4.6 which is a 5 star rating in the 5 stars scale
After the new store was enabled sales have stopped, when before were regular.
EDIT: Now see a few more sales, so it might have been a temporal issue, hopefully will remain this way.
I do not consider this a matter of ‘pleasing’ anyone. this is a matter of basic usability.
Imagine the fun i have trying to find ANYTHING.
i literally have to wade through my 10,000 plus assets, any time i want to browse the store.
I suggest firing the person who made this happen. i am only .005% joking when i say that.
This was a bad decision. it was a mistake. please just undo this ASAP.
If this has something to do with trying to push people to the Epic store, i am going to be doubly pissed.
I suggest you put ‘Hide Purchased Assets’ in the title to make this easier to find. @TwinB
The biggest issues imo are the randomized ranking and downgrade of many five stared assets to 4 stars, which should get the best attention asap.
There were multiple feedback items from the topic starter so it was a general answer.
Regarding the mentioned Hide Purchased
and 10k+ assets, this is a very good example, thanks for providing the screenshot.
I see the filter is back, currently. fingers crossed that it remains. Thanks
Didn’t want to break the hopes but the old search users are seeing right now is a temporary change.
The feedback regarding the filter is well noted, thank you.
So, why can’t you leave the filter there?
As mentioned, based on the feedback, the feature has been added to the backlog for consideration by the product team. Its potential delivery will depend on various factors within the broader roadmap for the Asset Store.
For now, this answer will be marked as a solution, confirming the team’s acknowledgment and the current state.
Hi,
Would be great if could restore the old store while finalize these issues, so that does not disrupt user experience.
Also i still see 4.6 rated assets categorized in 4 stars searches, which is s major bug.
Thank you in advance
It’s just like the editor. Something works one day the next editor version things stop working. Even in LTS versions. Not sure what is going on over there but they need to hire better developers.
