Horror Games.... Horror Games Everywhere!!!!!

The main reason why I wanted to start a thread about this topic is because many of the horror games that are being developed are not creative enough. There is no imagination.

Even though I am currently developing a horror/suspense game, it makes me feel as though I am taking part in a herd of cattle and just moving along into the horizon or abyss.

I have to admit it is becoming quite challenging developing for this genre, in terms of creativity, scare factor and replay value.

I will always be horror/suspense but with so many “horror” games coming about, it is hard not to think of myself as a troll. Granted most WIP horror games should not be called horror (just creating an environment that is pitch black and no other assets to clearly look at is not horror).

It is quite difficult to develop a game that is “horrific.”

What is horror? Google’s Definition: An intense feeling of disgust, fear and shock.

Slender fits in perfectly with that definition because I am genuinely disgusted when I see the game or its remakes.

Disgust = Gore, dismemberment, etc.???

Fear = Player is afraid that there is something behind them and/or player is afraid to turn the corner.

Shock = Jump Scares, etc.

In my opinion, if a horror developer is mainly relying on the darkness of the game to promote horror within the player, the game will not go too well. Now a good horror game that is mainly set in the daylight… that would be interesting.

Just cause you didn’t make slender.

The original game is great, remakes… not so much.
