How can I create a reflective mapping Shader?

Hi guys,

Look Carefully at chunky kongs belt buckle in this link, or the banana in the links below. That’s the effect I want to create via shader or material or both. How can I create this effect?

Im trying to create a reflective mapping shader or material. It is not a texture to indicate where I want reflection, it is simply mapping a texture onto a mesh VIA reflection. Its extremely hard to explain!!!

A good example of this effect is in Donkey Kong 64, If you look closely as Chunky’s belt, the material is reflective(it doesn’t show a reflection of his surroundings, but it shows a reflection that is applied to his belt.). This effect also happens in in the same game on the metallic cage that holds the giant guy that you need to free out to beat the game(the cage with 8 keys to open.) That cage also has a reflective mapping to it.

You could make / use a Qubemap.

thank you very much, that is exactly what I needed!!! cheers
