How can I design an Open World Sahara space like Map?

Hi,

I’ve complete my prototype(close to what I want to implement). I want to create an open map like Shadow of colossus(with green environment) and I have no ideas how to design, what tool to use and what thing to keep in mind while building one.

I try unity terrain and then I just made a random pan. It was a pain in the ass because I don’t know how to design properly and it looks depress. The prototype is close to what I want but Map design.

Before you ask me to search on Youtube, I’ve searched and those tutorial look depress.
Please share me some tips or tutorial video that you think is good.

Sorry, English is not my first language.

Okay. From personal experience, I would say, start with learning to make
a small simple desert looking rocky landscape.
Eg. A small desert with a few rocks. (I suggest this one.)

Or a small garden, with lots of rocks, stones and flowers.

Then, after you have learned how to make, a small landscape and detail it nicely, try to make a bigger medium sized one. Then, a bigger larger one after that etc.

By then, you’ll have an idea on how to create landscapes.

Note: Environments and landscapes, are not always so easy to make, and takes lots of practice and patience. Even for me, it’s tough sometimes.:stuck_out_tongue:

But as I mentioned above, the easiest one to start off with, is a small rocky desert. Once you succeed in making one, you"ll have a good idea and enough experience, to make bigger better ones.

In my personal experience, making environments from 3d modeling and 3d sculpting, gives me more control, on how I want my entire environment to look.
It might take longer to create, but in the end, it’s worth it. And I end up with a landscape, that looks exactly, or almost exactly, like how I want it to look.
