i think maybe shader or particle could possible

have you tried using transparent shaders ?

set your standard material on transparent then assign it a texture with alpha and there you go you have a transparent gameobject !,have you tried using transparent shaders ?

Are you wanted to create an effect where object instead of goes fade uniformly, it fades horizontal/vertically? It may seems easy, but the technique you need to use is like using second uv coordinate with some basic knowledge about how it be manipulated inside the shader. So the first thing is give your mesh a map of second uv coordinate. For the shader, google a bit about ‘unity shader fading transition mesh with UV2’.
