A picture is best for this one:

It is what you think it is. Moving through a portal, which will relocate the character to a distant position.
As shown by the “Angle” picture, the camera could be looking at this from any direction.
If the portal is completely between the camera and the green ball, blocking the view, then the green ball won’t be visible but it still has to not come poking through the back of the portal (which the camera can see).
