How can I make shadows react to a mesh with holes

I’m making an apocalyptic shooter, and to fit the scene I’ve boarded up some windows. Right now the shadows aren’t reacting to the mesh I’d like to be able to see all of the holes on the floor, and maybe even have some light beams casting in through them. See the screenshot to get a better idea on what the shadows are currently doing.

You have setted the mesh to cast shadows and receive shadows? Use SunShaft post FX to cast beams from the sun light.
Also, the mesh is a texture with transparent/cutout material??
