How do I add new items to the input manager?

How do I add a new item to the Input manager. All I have found in the help is this:

"Adding new Input Axes

If you want to add new virtual axes go to the Edit->Project Settings->Input menu. Here you can also change the settings of each axis. "

But unfortunately it doesn’t tell me how to actually add a new virtual axis.

And of course, I just found out how. Increase the Size counter at the top to one more and it adds one to the bottom.

You can also duplicate one of the existing entries and modify it.
