Changed it in the user settings but doesn’t seem to affect forum.

From one of the support pages - “Your username should then be instantly changed. If the change does not show immediately on the Community sites (Forums, Answers etc), try signing out and back in to encourage the accounts to sync. If it has been 24 hours and your username on our Forums or Answers pages has not been changed, please contact us.”
As it’s been a few days, I’d say get in touch with the link above.

Can I contact you for any question as long as it doesn’t change after 24 hours?

All good - had to log out and back in and then the issue fixed itself
