How do I change the render distance of an object.

I am making a game which is set on a space ship. I have a large dome (1000 by 1000) which is glass with window frames and I have a skybox as well, as the dome is as an artificial biosphere. However I don’t want the player to see the window frames from a certain distance.

Is there a way to make the material fade in at a certain distance from the player?


changing the far value of your camera should do the trick

if you put a far of 10 by example, everything within 10 units will be drawn and all the screen space with nothing on it will have the skybox drawn

@coolraiman I’m looking for a similar setting. Though your method only seems to effect the draw distance of terrain, not the draw distance of objects before their LOD kicks in.
