How do I configure my HD sprite designs for Unity?

Hello,

Total newbie here, so apologies if these are common sense questions!

I’m creating an RTS/TD game (using Unity2D build), and have just finished designing a lot of HD looking designs for the units (I use Adobe Illustrator), but I’m facing a couple problems.

For reference, my Illustrator export settings are .PNG file type, High resolution (300 ppi), optimized anti-aliasing.

When I import the individual sprites, I need to scale them down in the scene editor which causes them to get overly pixelated.

I’m thinking this is because I’m creating the units at too large a scale (in an attempt to make them hd). Is this the wrong way to do this?

I’ve noticed that all my sprites (environment, units, ui) become much more pixelated when shifting between the scene and game view windows. Is this just a visual bug or are there settings that I need to adjust to render properly.

Are there any other tips you think would be useful for a new developer like myself who really wants to make a beautiful looking game?

Thank you for your help!

Is your game view zoomed-in? Make sure your scale is set to 1x
