How do I export animations from Maya into Unity?

I’ve read other posts where they said to bake the animations in Unity, can anyone explain to me what this means? I am not an animator and have not worked with animations so I need specifics.

Just select your rig with the mesh in Maya, go to Export Selected>FBX

all the animations along with your mesh and rig get exported into an FBX files, just import that into Unity and you’re good to go- it really is that simple

the bake animation setting in the Unity FBX importer is covered in good detail in the Unity docs

That is what we tried doing, but my animator claims the animations got screwed up. I’ve attached the fbx file in question.

Use FBX 2011 in Maya. Other plugin versions generates bugs when you import the model in Unity.

Is there something you have to do after installing FBX 2011 plug-in? Because the animations still don’t look right.

This is what the animation is should look like

ahahaah that’s a funny looking character

the pipeline is simple:

  • animate your character

  • select the entire character

  • set your FBX settings to your liking

  • export to Unity

  • set your import settings in Unity to your liking

  • apply your code/scripts to your character asset

  • done

im trying to export my mesh. Everything works if i save my maya file directly to my assets folder, but if i export my FBX i get a deformed mesh.

In my project view its looks well, but when i drag it to my stage i got a deformed mesh… any clue?

Well, can someone try the fbx file I put up and see how it works for them in Unity?
