How do I fix this artifact on my procedural mesh?

I am trying to make a circle form a square but I’m running into this artifact on the mesh when the edges of the mesh become intersected.

I don’t see an actual artifact, but if you are morphing points they need to never turn your polygons inside-out. Even reducing them to zero-area polygons may give you lighting glitches, as there could be a lighting discontinuity there.
