I’m having trouble with leaf alignment in SpeedTree; some of the leaves on my tree model are upside down, while others are oriented correctly. I’ve tried adjusting the rotation and orientation settings, but I can’t seem to get them all facing the right direction. What steps can I take to fix this? Any advice on generator settings, anchor points, or other techniques would be greatly appreciated! I am also using interval generation type.
Hi @yagzkocak97,
Several factors can influence the rotation of leaves and fronds, and we currently don’t have a set method to make all clusters orient the same way (this is a good feature idea though, so I’ll bring it up with the team!)
Here’s one example of what you could do:
Here I have a cluster. First, I set my generation mode to Interval, like you. Then, in the cutout editor, I used the Straighten tool, then I changed the Angle (orange line) to point upward relative to the cluster. I usually keep the cutout editor over to the side to see my tree update as I make changes.
This put all my clusters point up into my trunk; we don’t want that!
I then used the orientation tab settings (Out and Up) to turn everything to point outwards. From there you’d need to mess around with properties like Spiral, Rotation, Spread, and Position to have a more varied look.
Hope this helps!
