When I’m editing terrain I can’t see the shape because there are no shadows and I really need to figure out how to get them because it makes it really hard to edit. Plus I’m a new user so… please help me! 
I think you may have your Fog obscuring your vision when zoomed out. This is a common nuisance. Next to where you turn off the light setting in the scene editor (the sun icon), click Effects and drop down and make sure fog isn’t ticked.
