I’ve recently developed a game that I’m planning on putting on the Android Market soon, most of what I’ve read here seems to lean towards the philosophy that no one buys games… so the obvious alternative is including ads in the game…but I don’t know where to begin.
I’ve already paid my $25 and I’ve been testing on my Samsung Galaxy so I’m ready to go
found the prime 31 site, I’ll get the plug in and try it out, thanks for helping me out
by the way would you agree that advertising is pretty much the way to go? I mean I worked hard on my game so I hate to give it away for nothing, but on the other hand if no one plays it, then there’s no point in that either. Do you have any words of wisdom about that? I am planning on having a pay for and a free version, and I already have a free web version. I’ve got a couple more weeks of beta testing and then I’m rolling it out…
primes plugin was extremely easy to use, had my ads running in no time,
BUT there was 1 problem where i couldnt click on the ads, and he had to send me a new manifest, so if you can get the ads up and running but cant click on them dont hesitate to email him and hell send you a proper manifest although this should be included from the start! lol
as far as input as if ads are the way to go, its what it would seem, im kinda in the same boat as you where im getting close to release, im personally going free with ads to start, it seems like its the android way to go
thanks Pat glad to hear there are others in the boat with me.
I’m just a one man shop and I’m doing this as a hobby so I’ve been burning the midnight oil and working weekends on this project. All of my time and effort has been spent in development and I’ve spent zero time really thinking about the business side. So I’m a little nervous because I feel like if I don’t decide on the right strategy it could all be for nothing. So is this going to be your first android market game too?
Before this I made a 3rd person space shooter type game that was met with mediocre reactions, so I went back to the drawing board. My new game is completely different and I felt confident enough in this one to finally buy the Android license for Unity, and get my android developers license. And I even paid to have some art work designed for my space ship models… so I’m all in on this one… and if this effort tanks then… I might just decide to give up and stick to my day job… not to be all dramatic but it’s a lot of work as I’m sure you know
i wouldnt give up if it sinks though, how i see it (obviously depending on the quality of your game hehe) it will be a nice portfolio piece and a good resume builder. obviously i want it to go huge and call it a possible living, but if not it already has been a door opener without it being on the market.
like you ive been putting in the midnight hours and weekends to get this finished, i work with unity full time and my job so sometimes its hard to go home and keep pushing on the same stuff, but its just about finished! i had some friends who wanted to help me along the way but i really pushed to make this 100% myself, i think theres something to be said when somebody completes a game all alone. maybe a version 2 or a 2nd game ill try to team up with some friends, but ill cross that bridge when i get there
anywho good luck and hope it goes well! message me or ill look for a post when you release and ill make sure to check it out, give it 5 stars and tap an ad here or there just return the favor! haha
