How Do I Make Terrain That Doesn't Look Like Crap?

Hey Guys! I have been using Unity 3D for around a year and a half, and I have been perfectly happy with making mediocre terrain. Recently, however, I saw this video and wondered how in this world he made it! My terrain always looks awful (you can see a tutorial I made for beginners here as an example). I have used CryEngine 3 and it is REALLY easy to make AAA looking scenes in that. So, how can I make my scenes look like the one I linked to? Help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Calvin

I agree. Even when lowering the values for raising and lowering the terrain, the results are over-sensitive to mouse clicks and drags. Cities Skylines, which uses Unity, is much easier to use when adjusting the terrain. It would be nice to know how they did it.
