How do I reference a component from an assembly?

I have a bunch of pre-compiled assemblies. I have a gameobject on which I have added one of these assemblies.(I simply dragged the assembly onto the object.)

When I run the game and try to do a GetComponent on the object, the GetComponenet never returns anything.

I can clearly see at runtime (in the inspector)) that the component DOES exists and is attached to my gameobject.

Any ideas?

In the end the problem was that the object that it was trying to find the component on, was actually downloaded as an asset bundle…otherwise this would normally work.
