Windows XP

  3. Click on Control Panel.
  4. Click on Add or Remove Programs
  5. Click Unity Web Player.
  6. Click Remove.

  6. Empty Trash.

  2. Go to Macintosh HD/Users/YOUR_USERNAME/
  3. Click on Library.

(Instructions for Windows 8)

  1. Open Explorer and go to C:\Users\AppData\Local\Unity\WebPlayer
  2. Right-click Uninstaller.exe, select Properties
  3. Go to Compatibility tab
  4. Tick the checkbox for “Run this program as an administrator”
  5. Select “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)”
  6. Just to be on the safe side, click on “Change settings for all users” and also tick the checkbox for “Run this program as an administrator” there and select “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)”, then click OK.
  7. Click OK
  8. Uninstall Unity Web Player using the “Add or remove programs” control panel as you would with any other program.
  9. It should work now, I’ve tested this on Windows 8.

Note: The reason for a failed installation was the lack of admin privileges when I installed it. In order to reinstall Unity Web Player, you might want to launch the installer using the Right-click->Run as administrator… .

I see, but it does not work.... I get an error saying that an error occurred during the removal, the application could be installed already. I cant get rid of it, any suggestions? (Windows XP Pro)

I have the same query - I found the “uninstall.exe” in the “Local Settings\Application Data\Unity\WebPlayer” folder, but on running that it gives the error “Please run uninstall utility from the Control Panel”

And here’s the kicker - the frickin’ app doesn’t even appear in the “Add/Remove Program” list. :frowning:

Help please! Related query - is it safe to delete files/folders from the Application Data folder? (Win XP)

Thanks in advance!

Same problem here. On Windows XP, I don't have it in my Add/Remove programs list. Same problem happens on two different XP machines I have.

Something’s up with this plug in. Every since I installed this plug in, Google Chrome freezes when you try to switch tabs or even close the browser. Plus the fact that the uninstall instructions above state that Windows 7 users should “4. Click on Add or Remove Programs” is a giveaway these people have not done their homework because this was not carried over to Windows 7. Windows 7 should be “4. Click on Programs and Features”.
I also have the problem with not finding “Unity Web Player” in the listing of programs to install or uninstall.
One of you mentioned a error with uninstalling the program…I get this error with all programs now, only after I installed this player.
Frustrating!!!
