Im confused how do i place a 3d graphic?

pop over to youtube and search for unity3d tuts. There are lots and you will be up and running in no time.

Beyond tutorials - think of the Project pane and Assets folder the same as you would Windows or Mac folders. Slide your files over into the Assets folder and it will automatically be available to use in your scene. Slide objects from your asset folder onto your scene, by click and drag.
