How do they make colorful fonts?

How do you create a colorful font with outline and all that?
I have tried creating a font using fontlab and scanfont, but no matter what i do inside photoshop to make the font with two colors (inside and outline), it would still show as one color!!!

Any hints would be appreciated.

Use the SaveFontTexture script to create a copy of the font texture. Add colours to that texture. Use that texture on a Material.
