How do you cancel the import of an asset?

Started the import of a huge file by accident. How do you cancel the import of this asset? I tried ESC, CRTL+C… do you just end the editors process?

bump

you can’t. killing the editor is the only way
be aware that you might need a full reimport depending on what and where you kill it

Wow, this is incredible. Tried killing the editor even, it almost corrupted the project. After cleaning the Library / temporary folder, it started the import again.
Incredible waste of time.

WHY IS THERE NO FIX FOR THIS? UNITY DEVS? i imported a 10,000 icon folder and thought it will go smooth but god damn, its been 5 DAMN HOURS and killing the editor will just make it reimport when i run it again

I have been using unity for 8+ years now and this is one of the things that make me pull my hair out on a daily basis… please fix this already…

Yep, my re-import takes 2 days, eats 500gb of ram, and re-runs itself whenever it feels like. Unity doesn’t care. I’ll never start another project with this crap engine.

2023… there is no way to cancel an import. Something this basic, not solved by engineers.

I’ve tried similar methods as well, and honestly, I haven’t seen any fix. My Unity projects have been crashing WAY too much, and for some reason some of them delete themselves??- It’s strange to be honest. Unity is a good program in some ways, but there are always pros and cons :eyes:
