How do you use SpeedTree grass?

I decided to download the SpeedTree grass asset on sale today but can’t figure out how to get it to work. I tried adding it as a Detail Mesh in the terrain but nothing shows up. Do I have to add it as a tree? That’s kind of a pain if so. Is there no way to use it with a detail splat map?

Yes, you always add SpeedTrees to a terrain as a tree.
