How does mixamo work with unity?

How does mixamo work with unity?

Does it import to Maya or 3D max to build the animation and then you import the character to unity?

So, it is not directly used in unity?

Mixamo can provide animations (but also 3D characters) that are ready to go in Unity as FBX, thus you don’t need Maya or 3dsMax unless you have to tweak the animations. Some level of tweaking can also be done in Unity using the Animation editor. You can also upload your character to Mixamo and download animations applied to it.

You can find a detailed tutorial here:
http://www.mixamo.com/c/tutorials#unity1

And the relative FREE demo project here:
http://www.mixamo.com/c/help/workflows_unity

Mixamo developed a rootmotioncomputer script that you can use in Unity to get high quality character animation using a controller. The script is included in the demo project. the tutorial shows how to use it.
Thanks!

1st question:

I take E.Honda in street fighter game as an example

For the special attack: Ultimate Killer Head Ram

He uses his head to hit the NPC

assume he is on x-axis 0, move to hit the target on x-axis 20

and he stays in x-axis 20 but not moving back to x-axis 0

(E.Honda) -------- Ultimate Killer Head Ram ----------> NPC (E.Honda stays but not return to the original location)

Does this animation do in mixamo or unity?

I guess it is doing in unity because mixamo cannot predict how far the character moves and stop, does it?

After stopping, how does mixamo know his changed location and start from there?

2nd question:

When a character jumps and punch in an animated character, I press UP button and in the same time I press Punch button several times, how can it be done in mixamo?

Are there 2 animation clips?

How can unity call both animation clips in the same time?

On your character (Honda in this case) you would play a loopable animation that you can download from Mixamo. You always deal with loops so that in Unity you can decide how many times you need to play that given loop. In Unity you also move the character globally, which means that the next motion starts in a position (x=20 in your case) where the previous one ended. In doing this you have two options (to make it simple):
A- you use “in place” motions from Mixamo and move the character globally (i.e. move the root of the character hierarchy) using a character controller script and your game controls, or
B- you use a non “in place” motion from Mixamo and use script like our RootMotionComputer that we provided to read what the right amount of global motion to apply to your character through the controller. In this way you avoid things like footslide and get the best animation quality.

I strongly encourage you to watch the tutorials that we created, they explain this concepts very clearly and provide a demo game example with animations and fully functional scripts:

Yes in this case you would get from Mixamo two different animation clips, a jump and a punch.
Then in Unity you can use animation layers to combine the two motions together with the desired weights.
This link contains a very clear and exhaustive explanation about how to do that:

I hope this helps!
