Hi guys,
So I have recently applied for putting up my asset on sale (madness sale, level 11 etc.) and been wondering how much does it take for an asset to be accepted?
Are there any requirements, such as product age, ratings?
Thanks!
Hi guys,

I applied to put my assets on sale a few years ago and have never been chosen. I don’t know the specifics, but it seems like popularity, what type of asset it is (3d models and complete games appear a lot), and… that’s about it I think. I recall an unsupported, broken asset going on sale even, so I don’t think ratings were taken into account - at least then.
The only requirement is that the asset must have its normal price. If you’re using a discounted or introductory price, it’s not eligible for a Unity-curated sale.
Sales and other lists such as “New On” and “Staff Picks” are curated by the Asset Store staff. They choose which assets to include. If they’re putting together a theme, such as Halloween or Fantasy RPGs, they might choose related assets. Other than that, the signup list contains thousands of assets, so it may be a couple years before an asset is chosen for a sale.
Oh well. Gotta sit and wait then (and improving my asset)
There’s still plenty you can do while waiting: Tell Unity about your release on Twitter and Facebook, publish more tutorial videos on YouTube, etc.
You won’t get a confirmation from that form you filled out but they’ll throw the asset in the hat for when they look at doing new sales.
The odds of getting in the sale depend a lot on what they’re targeting or trending on the store. They seem to be favoring quick start kits, prototyping assets and functional systems/backends for common parts of games recently. Of course, good editor extensions are almost always a hit. There is a pretty huge volume of assets on the store now so it can be a long while before you get in a sale since they have such a huge pool of content to choose from and competition gets stronger over time.
This has been asked before and there isn’t any formula for how long, some get featured pretty quick and others have applied years ago and haven’t been in a sale yet. In general, already existing popularity seems to be the biggest factor in getting featured. I presume Unity uses these sales to drive traffic so it makes sense that they want items on sale that they know people will get excited for and will come back to the website.
Certainly improving images, descriptions, making your product better, using social media, etc. all helps, but it also helps your product sell better even without being featured. I think you’ll find when your asset starts making the top page of your subcategory consistently for a month or two that your chances of being in a sale become favorable.
