Is there any number of how many games each platform’s store has?
Google Play
App Store
Steam
Itch
etc?
Everyone talks about getting lost in the sea of games these days, just want to see how big the ocean is.
Thanks

Hard to tell, the exact numbers aren’t available (at least not for free for sure).
(but take these with a grain of salt)
Google Play games: Google Play: number of available games by quarter 2022 | Statista
App Store: Number of apps from the Apple App Store 2023 | Statista
Steam: https://steamspy.com/year/
The last time I had checked Steam New Releases it was averaging about 25 games every day.
I just checked now: Steam Search
It seems there were about 70 games released on Steam today.
About 50 games released yesterday.
About 80 games released the day before.
So there are two parts to it. First the games already there but more importantly the number of games releasing each day.
I guess it will hit 100 games per day on Steam possibly this year or next. Who knows maybe 500 games per day eventually? lol
Mobile is many more both previously released and currently per day I am sure. Itch.io says 146,982 games at the time I am writing this.148,833 when check same on my cell phone. Which seems kind of odd.
At least a dozen.
Steam:
Edit: I’m stupid Average games per month: 150 (according to steam spy), so if we take the 30 days average, then at least 5 games per every day on average.
Nope. 9069 was in the entire 2018. So 24.8 game per day.
Yep that is what it was when I checked New Releases last year. About 25 games per day. You can see them all coming in. Click that link I posted above. There are 3 pages of games released today. About 70 maybe 75.
That’s quite a question. Honestly I was expecting something deeper when I clicked on the thread. Maybe a discussion concerning all the shovelware/unreleased games we will never see and how we will, consequently, never have the whole number of games recorded.
But yeah there is at least byte.MaxValue games out there.
255? I think you chose the wrong type?
No.
“there is at least byte.MaxValue games out there.” is not an incorrect statement.
Well, technically it is not, I just expected something deeper.
Can’t go too deep. Hippo might lock thread for “arguing”
I hope you understand
Well we just finished another game jam weekend. That probably produced several thousand games on its own.
Edit: 8507 games as of this edit. And the jam hasn’t even finished everywhere yet.
everybody wants to be a DJ
LOL! It really is impressive isn’t it? I remember back not that many years ago it seems when it was a big deal that 1,000 games were made in a weekend at this or LD (note: actually it was the # of solo dev entries for LD Compo). And now it won’t be too long and we will see 10,000 games made in a single weekend event. Quite amazing really and cool that so many people have been empowered to be able to do it.
Means Stores are basically sewage processing plants with indifferent post apocalyptic types commenting on notable flotsam.
i always look forward to little nuggets of poetry like that ^
to the OP, I’d say, who cares how big the ocean is. Thhe question is, “how many sharks? where are the sharks? How can I be a shark?”
I thought the thread was about how many games came to exist.
Still sore? It’s general discussion, why not have a little fun in the right place on the forum as opposed to the serious bits of the forum
Just refer the the US dept clock for an approximation.
A huge amount, unfortunately, these figures are not published, it is clear why. Very interesting, it would be to look at% of arrivals and departures of applications.
