just around about maby a quote or someone who has purcased something similar in the past.
Depends on the quality, depends on the style.
For something like a large race track in Wipeout HD on the playstation 3, maybe around $10,000 maybe even $15,000
For a mid sized track Gran Tourismo HD quality, maybe $5,000-$10,00
for something Mario Kart 3DS quality, maybe $2,000
I’m willing to bet that the individuals who worked on the teams that made Mario Kart 3DS tracks made far more than $2,000, but they worked for Nintendo.
But yeah, like eem said, it depends on quality and style since I assume you’re doing freelance work.
One thing to bear in mind is the fact that a racetrack is probably going to be an asset that is unique to a particular game - which means that they’re not just buying the asset, but also its uniqueness. You’re building something custom that isn’t going to be used elsewhere.
There is someone who is offering race track assets for $55 at Unity Asset Store.
And there is also someone offering complete game source (including race track) X-racers for $31

For complete custom work - I would say eem’s quote is about right.
when you say mario cart 3ds quality do you mean underwater and stuff aswell or just the tar on the track
I don’t think you can go past this for track building tools in Unity - Easyroads3D
This depends on whether you want just the track itself or the full landscape and terrain around it.
And depends heavily on the quality, visual style and scale of track (and potential surroundings) you’re after.
By which I mean, you could be looking at $2k to $20k+ depending on any of those factors.
Why not make the track yourself? Wouldn’t it be a lot more fun?
But yeah… you should be more specific! what do you mean by “track”? Just the the landscape and the track on top of it? Or a track full of elements?
Try to think of the price of every element. The track is just one thing, then you got a lot of possible environment elements. Banners, lights, tires, trees, crowd, buildings, the background, etc
The more elements you want, it’ll affect the price!
Also the quality you want will affect the price!
On one hand you got full time AAA 3d modelers can charge you a lot! They are reliable and skilled, though, that’s why they have a job in the first place… but they need to raise a family.
You can try find some amateur hobbyist 3d modelers they are a lot cheaper, but you can’t always rely on them, usually after a couple of models they’ll go back to some other business, school, work, exams, whatever thing gets in the way is going to halt their progress.
