How possible is actual game development?

I’m looking to develop for the PS4 or the WII-U. I know I need a license for both of them. Where do I look for the licenses? The only one that is on Unity’s development list is the PS4, but I’ve heard WII-U is possible…

I could tell my story now: ever since I was a kid I’ve wanted to develop for GAME SYSTEMS. Developing for computers is fine, but I’ve done that in the past. It’s time to move on. So I need to know how possible developing for any system that uses an actual video game controller (not computer gamepad) is.

You generally need to get dev kits from the console manufacturers to develop for their console. You’ll need to ask on their forums or contact their support teams for that information regarding availability and current pricing. Wii-U support was removed from Unity, and I’d be surprised if Nintendo still provides what you’d need to get that going. The PS4 dev kit costs $2500 last I read somewhere.
