How should i proceed to make a danmaku ?

Hello, i’m used to usually make scripts, but i never worked on a danmaku.

Recently, people of the website Touhou-Online suggested me to make a remake of Touhou 02 on Unity, i thought it would be a great idea, we would imagine the game 3D but it would keep the original gameplay with the view from the top

the problem would be to manage all the projectiles, to give an example this is the game

the problem is that the game uses SO MUCH projectiles with various destinations that i don’t really know how i should proceed…
Could you help me ?

All those bullets should be handling themselves. Each bullet could be a prefab with multiple scripts attached. You could have a script that handles how it looks. A script controlling its movement… A Script controlling collison detection and what to do. Your Instantiator (the player, the gun whatever) would instantiate this prefab and set some variables on the new bullet object through its script (like how it should look, its speed and direction, etc). Then after that the bullet should run itself. You can setup a lifetime variable so the bullet dies after X seconds and destroys itself (in case it misses).

Check out Unity Tutorials section. The spaceship tutorial has some good examples of this kind of thing:

Another optimization is to create a large number of bullets (100-200 or so) at the start of the game and keep track of them in an Object Pool. Everytime you need to fire a bullet just grab one of these, Enable it, set its initial data an let it go. When it destroys itself, instead of actually destroying itself it just returns itself to the object pool. This way your not constantly creating and destroying objects.
