I’ve been assured that it’s ok to install Unity on my comp at home using the same license here at work… cool… but I am absolutely stymied as to how to activate it!
When I bought my indie license through the Register button, it automatically activated the app, and sent me a code via email. Meanwhile, I installed the Unity Trial on my home computer and it has since expired. There doesn’t appear to be a place to enter the SN to activate it, and reinstalling it is no help – still “expired.”
Hmmm. Not a huge deal, but it sure would be cool to get my unity fix sitting on the porch etc…
what am I missing?
There is a button called register, which later on lets you enter the serial number.
But it doesn’t!
It guides you through a process to purchase a license by either going online, or generating a license request to email manually. No place I can find to enter a registration.
When I go home for lunch I’ll grab some screenies…
On the machine in question (with the expired trial):
-
Quit Unity
-
Look for the following file, if found then please delete it:
HD:Library:Application Support:PACE Anti-Piracy:License Files:Unity_v1.x.x.ilf
-
Relaunch Unity, you should now have a Reigster button shown upon launch.
Let us know if you continue to have trouble!
I think I figured it out – it seems that you need internet access to activate with the license key? LOL, that’s the problem – the machine effectively has no ability to connect to the internet. (no modem, we have only dialup at home and no Wi-Fi either)…
I can lug it up here to connect…
Thanks…
Heh, I got this to work on my old powerbook at home on dial-up, so I finally got around to bringing my iMac up here to register it, and the license key doesn’t seem to be valid.
Which makes me wonder – can I only do this one time (seems reasonable) – if so, if there a way to de-register my powerbook so I can register my iMac for home use?
Thanks,
Each serial number will only activate on two machines so attempting to install on a third will fail. Drop me an email off the forums (tom@unity3d.com) with the name, email and serial number used for product purchase/registration so I can match things up appropriately and I’ll take care of it on our end.
