How to alter a planes local axes?

When I create a plane it appears like a floor, but I want it to look like a wall. I can rotate the plane -90 degrees and apply a material to it and then it looks like a wall, but now the local XYZ axes are messed up. The Z axis is pointed “Up” instead of “Forward”. Is there a way to alter a planes local axes or a way to create a wall like plane? I’ve installed ProBuilder, but cannot find how to create this simple object with that tool either.

I’m trying to get a plane to “LookAt” the Main Camera, but because the local axes are wrong it never appears correctly.

It’s easy:

Ctrl-K to make a ProBuilder Cube.

Select FACE mode (top buttons)

Select the front face (eg the direction you want to keep):

Go to ProBuilder window and hit Invert Selection

Now go to Probuilder window and Delete Faces.

Voila… a single remaining face, which you can texture, resize, etc.

Note how I have selected EDGE mode (top buttons) and dragged it larger than 1x1

If you want to do more complex modeling, I’d reach for Blender3D. It’s worth learning… and this guy does a great job making tutorials for Blender3D with a LOT of detail on how to make it play nice in Unity3D:
