Hello, for some reason i wish to apply simple water on non-plane mesh, the mesh are done by artist in 3ds max. however, when i try to attach the water material and water simple script to the mesh, it looks distorted:
the left plane is unity plane object, the right one is the mesh i mentioned. both of them are applying the same water script and material, but why the outcome looks so different? can anyone help me?
The mesh(on the right with the odd water) is aligned on the wrong axis(if it was modeled in Blender then this is a common issues as the y and z axis are reversed in Blender).
You need to rotate this mesh for it to have the correct axis alignment(in Blender make it face the +z direction, if I remember right) in the 3D package, if it is Blender and you rotate it in Object mode then remember to apply this rotation once done, Object → Apply → Scale and Rotation (On the lower toolbar). If you don’t then the change will not take effect and you will still have this issue.
