I'm still pretty new to Unity,
But I was just wondering, how would you guys make a city (sort of like Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto).
Would you make the whole city in a 3D modelling app, or would you make individual bits of the city, like all the buildings and footpaths, and every little detail by its self, and then import into Unity and put together in there.
if you don't want to break much then mostly as a single object is fine,
but it is easier to build it as individual components in the modeling program. Also as lots of little pieces you can knock things over and blow them up with ease. But the biggest advantages of creating 'bits' are that you can modify and reuse ALL the different parts of your city.
there are many way to build a city the most essay way is to use google sketchup up and go to the warehouse in sketchup up or a noter way harder but your building will look nice very nice and more real (properly) is to use blender witch is a free program and so is google sketchup also both works with unity3d
