How to color a 3d sphere while using unity 2d

I have created a 2d scene.
I added 3d sphere to it.
Roll the ball to left and right is the design.

Now the problem is material does not get applied to this 3d sphere at all.
It stays black when i drag material on it and when i delete material it stays pink…what can i do about this.

Most shaders for 3d objects need a light source in order to properly shade the object. You don’t seem to have any light in your scene, hence it appears black,

You basically have three options here. Either:

  • add a directional light to your scene so the front of your sphere is lit.
  • use a “self illum” / unlit shader
  • don’t use a sphere at all and instead use a sprite with a circle image.
