Yeah I know he sounds a bit like a narrator probably because it sounds like he wrote out his script ahead of time. Regardless, man does this guy know the business side of things and how to do the most you can to move towards success with a project.

Yeah I feel like this is literally a formula to at least set you up for the best potential of success. The video game and media markets are weird and fickle beasts, so I’m sure nothing is a guarantee, but hey. I remember a podcast with Ed McMillen of Super Meat Boy fame in which he said something to the effect of: The Xbox people put us in a launch bundle with 2 other games, we were the last and third game in the bundle with our game, Super Meat Boy. The folks at Xbox didn’t mix words when they told us they expected the first two games to be big hitters and that these other games would “carry” Super Meat Boy to some sales. Turns out the other two games had pretty poor sales and Super Meat Boy outsold both other games combined. This was a complete surprise to the people over at Xbox.

It’s interesting about what game title you choose, how to make a good game Steam icon that catches attention or how to make a good trailer.
He talked first about one of it’s games that didn’t work, but looked not so bad with some gameplay ideas, as he said there was no hooks, this is a very important part. Your game graphics, character or gameplay must have one or more hooks something that catch the player attention otherwise it will be another thousand game that people won’t play despite good graphics or some cool gameplay.

There is indeed good tips and the author said it’s not the only way, but it looks like it’s a good enough formula.

Came across a video that you would think is a click bait title, but it has awesome guidance inside from very capable developers. It’s right on the subject of making games that are profitable and can sustain your business model.
