How to convert Terrain to HDRP terrain

I’m converting my project to HDRP, but I can’t find a way to automatically convert my terrains to HDRP terrains.

Is there an easy way to do this? So far I’ve started rebuilding my terrains from scratch.

Thanks

Hello,

There’s an upgrade path in Edit > Render Pipeline > HD Render Pipeline > Upgrade From Built In Pipeline > Upgrade Scene terrain to HDTerrain in HDRP 8, 9 and 10.

But, technically you just need to use HDRP/TerrainLit shader in your terrain material. It can be done with the standard material upgrade
If you are still using the legacy readonly default terrain material, you can just swap it with the default HDTerrain material (or use the Upgrade scene terrain to HD terrain)

ok thanks I’ll try that

Hi,

thanks for the info. Will this also work for the trees and details on the terrain?

Unfortunaly no, it’s just for terrain, trees and details needs to be updated manually.

You mean like placing them all over again on the terrain? Or is there a way to convert the data?

For the placement, they’ll stay where they are.
Trees will probably upgrade fine as long as the shaders on the prefabs used are supported by HDRP.
However, details shader (for grass and small vegeations) are currently not supported in HDRP and there’s no clear plan if it’s going to be worked on or not. :frowning:

Thank you for the status update. I still have hope that terrain and its shaders will get more love in the HDRP roadmap in the future.
