How to create a MOD tracker file for in-game music?

MOD audio tracker files look like an attractive option for games music: supported by Unity, small size, music-like (no performance artefacts), etc.

Only problem is: how do you go about creating them? Start from a MIDI, but what software to use to create a MOD? Where do the sound samples come from?

With tracker program, of course!

Here are the two best ones:

https://milkytracker.org/

Thanks, yes, I found OpenMPT and MilkyTracker is similar: part of the whole early computing thing: chiptunes, Amiga, strange hardware, weird effects, oddball UIs, etc. I’m impressed that people still want to do this stuff but that’s not me.

I just want to use MOD as a convenient publishing format for music I already have in MIDI so that Unity can play it, without going to the size of MP3 or OGG. Any suggestions?

This is the exact same reason why people still use these sometimes.

I have no idea, I haven’t used mod files since 2000-ish.

But I googled for you: https://www.un4seen.com/ obviously I have zero experience with it, so please, do your research.
