How to create a popup when hovering over specific words in UI.text (151098)

Hello,

I was wondering if it’s possible to create a pop up window that appears when you hover your mouse over specific key words in a UI.text object? I’m dynamically building UI objects for a Google Sheet using G2U and I’m populating a UI Text object with strings of data. In the string I have key words that I would like to be able to hover the mouse over and it would have a popup (like mmo style over icons) that would provide detailed information about the keyword.

Is this possible? If so, could someone provide a very basic example? If this is not possible, any suggestions on alternatives? SolForge is a good example of what I’m trying to accomplish. They have key words and when you click on them they give a detailed description. I’d prefer a mouse hover, but I would settle for a mouse click if needed.

Thank you all for your time and assistance, much appreciated.

Well I wasn’t able to figure out how to do this on my own via scripting, thanks to the wonderful people on the forums it was pointed out to me that I could use asset TextMeshPro to achieve what I need. I also found HyperText is another option.

10 textures that are 512 each is not a 5120x5120 texture. assuming they were in a 5x2 grid that is 2560x1024. A Texture Atlas is not an easy thing, especially if you want to do mip-mapping. I would suggest looking in to using a texture atlas with unity a bit more before you proceed down this path. Also if you feel the original question was answered, please accept my answer. Thank you.
