How to create a watermark and mark objects with it?

I want to water mark an object when my ball hit it like on helix jump game. I know how to use GIMP make some beginner texture but little knowledge of it. Sorry if I tagged this to wrong topics I’m not really sure where does this belong.

You could use decals for that.
