.anim files (in the context of Unity) are Unity-specific animation files that Unity generates when it imports an FBX animation. After you import the FBX, expand it in the project view. Inside, you’ll find a .anim file associated with the animation.

Thanks for your valuable answer The problem i faced with that is i can't extract that anim file. Actually i have to make different types of birds to fly approx of 30 different birds. Creating 30 different fbx will increase the size. so, if it is one anim file i can place it for 30 different birds which will solve my problem of size. Can you please suggest me how can i solve that..

To my knowledge, no third-party applications create Unity .anim files (with the exception of the Mixamo service, but it only applies to their animation store). Are you using Mecanim or the legacy animation system? If you're using legacy, the birds will need to use the same skeleton definition.
