Hey everyone!
I’m curious if it is possible to bake Light Maps with Area Lights so shadows look like this:
Help very very much appreciated if anyone know how to do this. Maybe re-write the beast.xml file?

You could fake an area light by placing a bunch of lights with little variation in position…
If you own Pro, you actually have some kind of area light in form of light emitting materials…
Which book is this picture from?
zipper
render it in 3d software add into 2d img then you got shadow. because good shadow kill computer if you want use it in real time.
if you want add on character, use same style but add plane under character and you got shadow.
but until you plan to made dizzy dazzle light, moving light around or change colour of light… then I am sorry.
I found it ![]()
For directional lights, change “Shadow Angle” to 3-5. Done ![]()
Unity pro beast doesn’t need that step, it has global illumination which performs a similar look.
Where do you see Shadow Angle in the options when selecting the directional light?
either way, those shadows aren’t real-time! (for now)
You can have soft shadows, but they wont spread gradually…or just get supersharp shadows
You can try putting many lights together on a grid but I reckon you’d need way too many lights to make it look right
You find it under Lightmap > Object when you select the directional light ![]()
If you have pro, you can have polygon with self-illuminating material. Bear in mind that you will probably need high-ish settings in beast.
Also, I’m assuming you aren’t talking about realtime, right?
