How to export a model with multip/sub-object material?

I have a model (animation character) with multi/sub-object material (3DSMax 2010), as I export it to fbx file and use unity to check this model. I find there is only one material attached (I think it should be 2 since there are 2 sub-objects in the original max file). I use fbx 2012. So, how to do the right export?

Get it. In unity’s inspector (highlight your model) in project, Material Naming not use “By Base Texture Name”, unity will import all the material channels.
