Hey all, I’m wondering if anyone knows a shop that will ship an Ouya to Australia? Has anyone in Australia purchased one, if so how?
I don’t believe there’s been any announcements for retail in Australia. As far as I know it’s US, UK and online only at this stage. Got my Kickstarter unit a few weeks back.
You should be able to buy it from their official website.
How did you go about plugging your dev one in just a converter? And it works fine just plugging the HDMI into a TV yeah?
The official website seems to only sell to USA, I found GAME UK appears to sell to AUS(But haven’t gone further than when it comes up with international shipping option) but that kind of sucks as it is more expensive.
Pretty sure the sales are international, if you click on the link it talks about international shipping etc. It certainly was the case in the pre-order phase.
Answered the adapter question in your other thread. Yep all HDMI, no other option.
Also, FYI: Someone mentioned customs, tax etc in the other thread you had, but with mine I didn’t pay any, so we’re lucky in that regard. Seen other forums where people in other countries had to. My brother received his Kickstarter unit the other day also and no additional charges or delays in customs.
Its defenently not, the Ouya.tv option is in the USA section and then in the part to sellect the country it only comes up with USA.
So it does. My apologies. Looks like Amazon or Game is the only option at this stage. Maybe someone is flogging theirs off on Ebay?
On second thoughts, just checked Ebay and you’re probably best sticking to Amazon or Game
Well at the risk of now jinxing my delivery I pre-ordered an Ouya and extra controller pretty late on the 05/06/2013 directly from the ouya.tv site, according to the tracking my package was dispatched from Hong Kong on the 27/06/2013 and is now sitting in Sydney, so if everything goes to plan expect I should have it next week.
When I ordered I was charged an additional $20 for shipping, the extra shipping gets added after you go through the checkout if I remember correctly.
Australia has a solid gaming scene… I’m surprised they didn’t send a shipment over to a local store.
Has anyone had any joy yet getting an OUYA into Australia through regular international retailers? I tried Amazon ca and uk but when I actually went to purchase, Amazon said it doesn’t ship to Australia…
I wonder if it has to do with Australian laws where you cannot distribute unrated games within Australia. Because I know thats the reason why Australia has no XBLIG.
It could mean no OUYA ever released in Australia.
I got mine from Game.co.uk. Came quickly and all but ended up costing something around $180 aud.
I got mine from Amazon.com, $99 with $19 shipping. I’m in New Zealand.
Maybe I should start oceanicouya.com and sell directly to you aussies, at a hefty profit
I bought mine directly from the Ouya website. Unless something has changed, they offer a $20 flat international postage fee and will send a unit with the correct plug for your country. So total price is $119.
Yep they have changed the ouya.tv site it would seem, you can longer pick a country outside of the USA for the address. I did a quick test with Amazon.com (not ca or co.uk) and it gives a shipping estimate of $23 to Australia and they seem to be fine to send if you proceed.
I’m not sure if it would come with the appropriate power supply adapter tho. Did yours come with an AUS power adapter from GAME Tyler?
Good point, Tyler do Oz and Nz use the same power adapter?
Yes we do.
Great, looks like I’ll need to pay Tyler a visit while he sleeps at night and steal his OUYA power adapter.
The Ouya power supply is rated 110v - 240v and is the same everywhere, Mine has a UK power connector and I’m just using a adapter I got at a local electronics shop.(Cost $12 IIRC)
Sweet, so if I go into the electronic store I guess I just ask for a US → local NZ power adapter?
Depends on where you purchased it. If it was from US then yeah.
^I’ll ship OUYA’s to Australia for cheapeer. $175 is far too much, I’ll do $150. If any aussies want an OUYA let me know.
