-I am trying to get a ‘falling leaves’ particle effect for my tree.
-I create a particle emmitter, change some settings to get it moving downwards slowly, as if leaves are falling (with a jpeg image of a simple leaf added). But I have spent the last hour trying to get it working correctly.
-I need it to be fading in (from the top of the tree), then staying at a strong value (100%) whilst falling down, then near the bottom of the tree it needs to fade out again. I understand the colour over lifetime applies the fade in and out, but I think my ‘velocity over lifetime’ or ‘shape’ settings is not letting me do it correctly. I have tried changing everything but I am getting nowhere, which is why I have come to the forums.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need specific settings? Thank you
These are my settings.
What actually happens? Do they every become transparent? Or do they stay solid the entire time?
They do sort of work. They are falling, but they fall really low and also slow. So I change the ‘Velocity over life time’, but that makes them move position. Changing ‘Start speed’ makes them move up. At the moment I am trying correct the sizing and speed.
I believe the ‘Colour over lifetime’ is fine. Its just that they fall much further down so I am not seeing it, and changing the ‘Shape’ messes up with the ‘Start speed’ and ‘Velocity over lifetime’. I am trying to get the balance. I think I have it. If problems further persist and I still have nothing, I will let you know.
I just thought I would post on here to see if I have the complete wrong settings. So not to worry too much
Try using a negative start speed.

Ye, changing some more settings also allows for a greater (negative) 'Startup speed! Looks nice now!
If anyone is facing a similar problem to me in the future and would like to know the specific settings I have, inbox me instead of replying to this thread. I dont want this coming to the top of the forums after 2 weeks of being on page 3
