How to get sponsored?

I’m making an iOS/android game and we’re halfway through making it. Except after we finish the game we have no way of actually putting it on the app store or android market because we don’t have enough money. So we need some kind of a sponsor, any ideas? We’ll only need about 300 dollars for all the costs. Thanks!

You get a sponsor by presenting your game.

Where would I present my game? Here?

yeah. Make a showcase thread, or a webplayer in this one. If you want sponsors you have to sell your idea, pitch your project. Plenty of people here will be willing to invest in a project that they can see is doing well.

Try http://www.kickstarter.com/

Thanks for all the info it’s really going to help me thanks again!

I’d advise trying to find a way to get 300$- Android only cost 25$, but even after you present it you’ll be pretty hard pressed to find someone to just give you money without insane amounts of drama/ legal issues .

Do you really want to give up control of your project over 300$?

Like, even if it takes you say 3 months to save 300$ you can spend that time making your game that much better!

I would suggest Kickstarter for this - show it to your friends!

Kickstarter works great for small projects - I’ve helped fund projects for friends that were between 500-1500 dollars, just by chipping in a little.

I assume the 300$ is for iOS basic. Also, putting it on the app store directly is very risky, as, even with all the promotion you’d be competing against large marketing companies and your game could basically earn 4-5$ in a month (not thousands, I mean just dollars) (happens more oft then not)
I’d suggest finding an intermediate company to buy your game from you for a nice large sum (depending on the quality of the game from 5,000 to around 11,000$ should be reasonable) - this is much safer. if you can’t find one THEN try to sell it directly.
note: there aren’t that many “ios publishing companies” - believe me I’ve searched, HOWEVER some “game dev companies” actually buy some of their games if they deem it profitable. A good way to find them is to go to the app store and search for the slightly less popular games and look at what company made them, then try to contact/spam them till one of them buys your game = profit.

I’m going to use kickstart it seems like the best choice for me since I don’t need to fund this game, what I really need money for is our team.

Kickstarter only supports people/companies in the US

/facepalm :frowning:

Kickstarter is used to fund “Projects” ,not teams or companies. So you can ask for funding for a specific project. This is a somewhat meaningless distinction to you, since you think of them as one entity, but a kickstarter project should be about the project, not the team/company. Keep it in mind. (This is in the terms of use, it also means that your funding scope is limited to this one game. Different game, different kickstarter campaign)

There is indieGOGO for the rest (and quite a few lesser know sites dedicated to crowdfunding for games, also Desura has a pre-alpha purchasing system, though I don’t know about project origin limitations).
