i’m finding different information online so its confusing. the videos and even both free/paid assets i’ve used all have arms and weapons only, with no player body model.
i am trying to find out how a first-person shooter is supposed to be setup strictly relating to the player models and their animations/inverse kinematics.
i have my arms model which is set to generic, has no avatar, it’s rigged and i use it visually only for my own player, and it’s on a separate layer to the rest of the player.
i also have a full character model that has movement animations like walking, idle, jump. but how do i handle the arms of the full character model? since other players online (in the future) will need to see all the animations, the inverse-kinematics that are setup, arm and hand gun poses and so on.
do i need to “duplicate” everything? so i will need to create two reload animations, two gun poses, do inverse kinematics for my arms twice, once for the arms model, and then a second time for the full player body (which has its own arms attached)?
