How to leave a trailing particle effect.

The fire just keeps shooting straight when looking at the target. How would you give a smooth trail while turning? Basically all that needs to happen is the previous particles need to stay where they were and not turn only the new ones coming out should be coming out at a new location.

You could set your particle system’s simulation space to world? Won’t give you exactly what you want, though. Or at least what I think you want. Hmm, interesting problem.
