How to let the player launch themselves from a ladder (vr)

Hi there, I’ve been mucking around with unity and the XR vr side. I am trying to achieve a sort of 0 gravity simulation where a player moves around by grabbing then pushing off poles. I’ve set the gravity to 0 within the project. Using the interactable elements allow me to move the player model around but as soon as I let go the player just freezes. It seems like the 0 gravity doesn’t affect the player at all. How would I make it so the player retains its velocity when letting go of the bar or could someone provide me with a link to a tutorial in creating 0 gravity movement physics for vr?
